Get to the Shore premier on American Highways

Americana Highways presents a video that, like its subject, was interrupted by the pandemic. Jefferson Berry & the UAC produced the album track and video for “Get to the Shore” in February of 2020. Double Deadbolt Logic was the band’s third album produced with Matt Muir and mastered for vinyl by Chris Muth. Looking forward to the album tour and video promotion, the band got together in Will Drinker’s family home in the Philadelphia suburbs. His crew shot the A -roll footage as the band had a good time mugging for the cameras. But within the month, the whole world shut down. The New Jersey shore summer we imagined in the song took a break.

Now, Summertime is back, and Jefferson Berry has offered us something to celebrate and motivate us to get out there and enjoy what summer has to offer. With recognizable scenes of the East Coast drive to the beach with the top down, the stage is set for the sand and the busking. And the song will bring an easy smile to your face, as is Jefferson Berry’s way.

Blazing hot summers in Philly prompt a Friday Night exodus to the New Jersey beaches. Folks have their favorite spots “down the shore.” And over time, these trips become romantic. Says Berry, “There was no casting involved in the drone sequence. I’m crazy about Blue Eyes and she had this slick convertible that worked well with the whole idea.”

“While we hired drone pilot James Powers to shoot footage of us leaving town, Will still thought we needed more assets and as the summer wore on, it became clear that “Get to the Shore” would be a 2021 release. This past June I went down to the Asbury Park Boardwalk on a bright but windy day and shot the performance that the video needed. Underneath it all is another great job by my band, The Urban Acoustic Coalition: Bud Burroughs on piano and mandolin, Dave Brown on lap steel, Marky B! Berkowitz on harmonica, Uncle Mike Damora on bass and David Rapoport on Drums.
